The Soling Worlds turns Pink!
Dutch Soling
Association sails for Pink Ribbon during the World Champion Soling 2017.
The Dutch Soling
Association has the honour to organise the World Champion Soling of 2017. From Saturday
September 16 until Friday September 22, this championship will be held on the
Marker lake in the city of Muiden, nearby Amsterdam, hosted by the Royal Yacht Club
Muiden.
The Dutch Soling
association has decided to link this unique event to a unique cause. They have
chosen to support Pink Ribbon; a Dutch charity organisation which finances breast
cancer research (see website: http://pinkribbon.org/).
Pink Ribbon finances scientific projects
on treatment and research, aftercare and long term effects
of breast cancer. Their goal is a longer and better life for (ex-) breast
cancer patients. Pink Ribbon already finances more than 200 research projects
in the Netherlands.
Every one in seven women will develop breast cancer. And although the survival-rate is going up, the long-term effects of treatment often have a large and permanent impact on the life of the patient and their family. There are of course physical consequences such as heart and vascular disease because of the radiation and chemo therapy. But there is also the difficulty in accepting a body without breasts and infertility due to chemo and hormone therapy.
Pink Ribbon invests in research to enhance treatment and diminish (long term) side effects.
